It’s time to open up your calendar and get set for March’s biggest tech
mixer! March Mingle <http://marchmingle. com/> will be held on the
evening of Tuesday, March 30th, 2010 from 6:30 to 9:00 at San
Diego’s newest and hottest Italian restaurant in North Park, Il
Postino.
If you don’t remember, or haven’t been to one yet, March Mingle is a
night in which San Diego’s tech community gets together for a mixer of
epic proportions that’s all about socializing and enjoying a fun
atmosphere with good food, drinks, and people. There won’t be any
presentations, demos, or pitches of any kind — this event is for
trading war stories, swapping tips and tricks, and just having a great
time. This event is technologically agnostic; whether you develop for
the iPhone or write login pages like a code monkey, we’d love to see you
there!
And special thanks to HP Touch Printing <http://hp.com/ touchprinting>
for sponsoring, we are able to offer our sixth annual March Mingle for
free! If you would like to have your user group attend, please reply
back to this email so we can get an idea of which groups will be
represented. The venue is limited to 300. We wouldn’t want you to miss
this awesome event so make sure to RSVP if you plan on attending.
Please help spread the word by posting to your user groups forum /
website or send an email blast to your group list with this invitation.
Looking forward to seeing you there.

I ran across a very simple tutorial that quickly shows how to create a php webservice using Flashbuilder 4 as well as some of the new features such as two-way data binding and auto-generation of event-handlers.. I’d avoid a lot of these features in production code; however, for testing, prototyping, and general learning they are pretty damn cool and make throwing together a quick, database-driven app very fast!

You may not be aware but one of our user group members (and user group manager as well). Demian Borba has been honored as an Adobe Community Professional (formerly Adobe Community Experts). Way to go!!!
Most recently he organized the very successful FlashCamp Brazil. Here is a tweet from @ddura:
Big shout out to @demianborba for putting on one of the best Flash events I have ever been to. Can’t wait for next year! #flashcampbrasil
I am sure we will get a great recap of the event at an upcoming SDFUG meeting.

In case you missed the announcement a few days ago, WorkflowLab BETA has been released! We had a chance to see some of the new features two meetings ago during Doug Winnie’s visit, so now you can try the new features out for yourself. Rather than list out all the cool things the team has done, you can read about it on Doug’s blog.
In case you did not know, one of our regular and active members, James Polanco, is part of the development team. Congrats to the team in reaching this milestone!

Both the runtime and the SDK are available for download. Please read the developer release notes which include critical information that all developers building AIR applications should be sure to read including important information related to certificate renewals as well as bug fixes.
Read also the article on Adobe AIR blog.

Thanks to everyone who came out to last week’s meeting. Learning about the design and development process behind Workflow Lab was enlightening and Doug Winnie’s sneaks of CS5 were awesome!! I can’t wait to get my hands on CS5 when it ships (when was that again Doug?).
Congratulations to our two software winners:
Greg Neumayer won a copy of a Adobe Creative Suite and Billy Roberson won a copy of Flex Builder 3 Professional.
Please take a moment and complete our short survey about the group. Kyle and I are trying to plan out next year’s meeting topics and feedback from you will greatly help! The url is http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/JJ7R992
Hope you and your family have a great holiday season! See you all in 2010!
